Notes to Photography (1984—1985)

that is why I believe that, of all the media, photography offers the greatest possibility for capturing and re–presenting, at any point in the future, an action, event, or merely the flow of time from long ago

by choosing a particular segment of time, by following the internal changes or the record of an event for myself, I put an end to all that is previously and immutably defined, to the state of infinitely other possibilities, and merely document and record, simply and truly and in the true sense of the word, that which plays out at any given moment and that cannot, considering its expansive context and our physiological abilities, be fully perceived (while eliminating all interventions and leaving existence before us as it truly is)

if we liberate subjective perception from visual illusion, then we realize that photography possesses a form existing beyond the limits of the visible  — a kind of inner quality — and all that is depicted is pure reality

I believe that using the necessary exposure or by combining it with movement, we can capture the otherwise elusive multifacetedness of depicted reality (object, dynamic situation, etc.) from angles of view or places that we cannot see at that point in time — we are thus given the chance to turn a momentary state into a complete picture using a kind of total or integral photography
